Licensed technology from Malaysian university, UKM on Arowana fish gender testing using DNA-based biosensor.
2017
Launched first minimum viable product for Arowana fish gender testing, followed by field trials and business development.
2018
Began exploring aptamer-based technology for faster development of more diagnostic products.
2019
Secured grant from Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation to develop aptamer-based field test kit for foot & mouth disease.
2020
With the outbreak of COVID-19, Biogenes pivoted to human healthcare as primary focus of diagnostic products development. Secured seed investment from VC ANTLER.
2021
Initiated collaboration with more Malaysian universities to accelerate the development of more diagnostic products in healthcare.
2022
Secured funding support from various government agencies i.e. MTDC and CRADLE.
2023
Secured Series A investment from local VC, PESB to expand lab facilities inside UPM and acquired medical-grade manufacturing facility in Penang.
2024
Launched two diagnostic products for local R&D outcomes; field test kit for paddy disease and aptamer-based HPV staining kit.
